Test Your Knowledge Of Dirty Movies

This is a collection of quizzes designed to test your knowledge of Dirty Movies, but before you click the exit button, these are not the type of dirty movie that you might be thinking this page is featuring.

When you mention the term "Dirty", many people think you are talking about the kind of movie that has an adult rating, sometimes referred to as "Blue Movies" or "X-Rated Movies" (referring back to the old classification system), but there are other kinds of Dirty Movies - in this case, those that have the word "Dirty" in the title, and that aren't in fact adult movies, but of a variety of genres, including War Movies, Chick Flicks, Romance Movies, Romantic Comedies and Dramas.

I did some digging around in the dirt (so to speak), and this is a list of some of the movies that have the word "Dirty" in the title. I am sure that you are familiar with a few of them if not most of them.

Dirty Harry (1971)

The legendary Clint Eastwood played San Fransicso cop "Dirty" Harry Callahan in the original Dirty Harry movie, which was released in 1971.

The movie was so successful that it spawned four sequels:

  • Magnum Force (1973)
  • The Enforcer (1976)
  • Sudden Impact (1983)
  • The Dead Pool (1988)

All four movies are now available in one DVD collection, a "must buy" for fans of Clint Eastwood and Dirty Harry.

Dirty Harry Quote

The Killer: Freeze cop. Now, left hand, pull out your gun.

[Harry pulls out his .44 Magnum]

The Killer: My, that's a big one.

The Dirty Dozen (1967)

The Dirty Dozen is one of those classic Second World War movies that was perfectly cast with a host of famous actors, including Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, George Kennedy, Charles Bronson, Telly Savalas and Donald Sutherland.

When volunteers are needed for a suicide mission to assasinate German officers, Lee Marvin is the US Army Major who is assigned the task of pulling together a crack team from a bunch of convicted murderers.

The movie is a mixture of comedy and drama, and it's one of those action movies that you could watch again and again.

The Dirty Dozen Quote

Major John Reisman: You've seen a general inspecting troops before haven't you? Just walk slow, act dumb and look stupid!

Dirty Dancing (1987)

Dirty Dancing is probably one of the best loved "chick flicks" of all time, although us guys would almost certainly not class it as one of our favorite movies starring the late Patrick Swayze.

The movie is set in the early 1960s in a holiday camp in upstate New York, and it's centered around "Baby" (Jennifer Grey), a teenager from a privileged family, who falls for the camp's dance instructor (Swayze).

It's a step back in time to the 60's, when parents had far more say in what their children did and didn't do, including mixing with boys from a lower class.

Dirty Dancing Quote

Penny: Oh, come on, ladies. God wouldn't have given you maracas if He didn't want you to shake 'em.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a great movie that blends together the comic genius of Michael Caine and Steve Martin as a couple of crooks who try to cheat rich women out of their fortunes.

Working individually on the French Riviera, the two crooks come across each other when they both try to woo an American heiress. Realizing that the place is not big enough for both of them, they agree that whoever wins this woman's fortune gets to stay, while the other must leave.

But things don't always go as planned, and there are some wonderfully funny scenes with Michael Caine's cool British style and Steve Martin's zany character.

This isn't the best movie from either of these fine actors, but it's still a good enjoyable movie and it's in my DVD collection.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Quote

[Sitting at the dinner table]

Freddy Benson: Excuse me. May I go to the bathroom first?

Lawrence Jamieson: Of course you may.

[after a pause, and with relief]

Freddy Benson: Thank you.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974)

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry is one of those pretty much forgotten movies from the 1970s and stars Peter Fonda together with Susan George.

The plot is a fairly simple one, Peter Fonda plays a Nascar driver, Adam Roarke his mechanic, and in an attempt to obtain the much needed money to build the ultimate racing car, they rob a grocery store.

The getaway however doesn't go according to plan, as the duo are joined by Susan George, who Peter had a one night stand with and who objected to him running out on her.

Most of the movie sees the three of them trying to outrun and evade the police, in average quality car chase scenes.

Although Peter Fonda and Susan George still appear in the occasional production, this movie was released as both of their careers began to tail off.

One to watch if you enjoy car chases, but not one of the best.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Quote

Larry Rayder: You know what a man would do right now if he were smart?

Deke Sommers: What?

Larry Rayder: I don't know, I thought you'd know.

Angels With Dirty Faces (1938)

Angels With Dirty Faces is a classic movie from one of the all time gangster greats, James Cagney, and it also stars Humphrey Bogart, Pat O'Brien and Ann Sheridan.

Cagney and O'Brien play tough kids who grew up in Hell's Kitchen, the worst neighborhood in New York. Cagney ends up being sent to a reform school and ends up a major criminal, but in contrast O'Brien turns away from crime and becomes a priest.

Years later they both return to the neighborhood where they grew up, and both end up trying to convert the neighborhood kids to their side of the fence.

If you love the old style gangster movies, then this is definitely one to add to your collection.

Angels With Dirty Faces Quote

Rocky Sullivan: 'Morning, gentlemen. Nice day for a murder.

Dirty Work (1998)

Directed by Bob Saget (best known for the sitcom Full House), Dirty Work is the story of Mitch (Norm McDonald) and Sam (Artie Lange) who play best friends from a small Midwestern town.

Neither of them have had any luck keeping a job for very long, so when they need to find $50,000 in a hurry to help a friend, the only way is to come up with an original plan.

The only thing they seem to have been successful at is taking revenge on an abusive manager from their last job. This works so well that the other workers there suggest that they make a career out of doing this, and if I said any more I would be giving too much of the plot away.

It's not the best comedy of the late 90's, but if you enjoy movies about getting your own back, it's definitely worth watching.

Dirty Work Quote

Kathy: You guys are brothers?

Mitch: Well, it's a long story...

Sam: My dad boned his mom.

Mitch: Okay, it's a short story.

Dirty Pretty Things (2002)

Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (Amistad, Twelve Years A Slave) and Audrey Tautou (Amelie), Dirty Pretty Things is about a Nigerian living in London who as an illegal immigrant spends his days avoiding the immigration officials while working at a hotel which has a seedy side, being a centre for drugs and prostitution.

When he discovers his boss is involved with performing back street surgeries, he makes a proposal that could help him make a lot of money and that could also see him get legal residency in the UK.

But nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and the resulting drama will have you on the edge of your seat.

Dirty Pretty Things Quote

Okwe: My hands are shaking.

Guo Yi: So are mine! I don't have a driver's license!

Dirty Deeds (2002)

Take a trip back to the early 1960s when American troops sent to Vietnam would spend their R&R in Sydney, Australia.

An Australian gangster is making a killing from the troops who are looking to party and to blow their cash, that is until the Chicago Mafia decide to get involved, as well as their rivals from the East Coast.

Starring Bryan Brown (Cocktail), Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, About A Boy), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Bicentenial Man) and John Goodman (King Ralph, The Flintstones), this movie provides a good insight into Americans getting out of their depth in the Australian suburbs, and like all movies about rival crime gangs, the action is guaranteed.

Dirty Deeds Quote

[on flight to Australia]

Sal: Yeah, so, w-what language they speakin' over there?

Tony: Jus' regular.

Sal: You mean, like, American?

Tony: Yeah, regular.

Sal: Is this country's on the other side o' the world they speak the same as us, they, they look the same as us? They don' look like Mexicans or nothin' , do they?

Tony: I got no idea.

Play Dirty (1969)

Play Dirty finds Michael Caine (The Italian Job, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) with the British Army in North Africa during World War Two.

The movie has been likened to a British version of The Dirty Dozen, and in this case it involves a a specialist unit which has to undertake a mission in the desert hundreds of miles behind the German lines.

With a cast that also includes Nigel Davenport (Zulu Dawn, Chariots OF Fire), Nigel Green (Tobruk) and Harry Andrews (633 Squadron, Battle Of Britain), it's one of the lesser known Second World War movies and yet it has a good cast, but the characters don't work as well together as in the Dirty Dozen.

It's definitely well worth seeing at least once, especially if, like me, you love action war movies.

Play Dirty Quote

Capt. Douglas: How did the other English officers die?

Capt. Cyril Leech: Unexpectedly.

A Dirty Shame (2004)

A Dirty Shame is a comedy that stars British export Tracey Ullman (Tracey Takes On, Ally McBeal) as a middle aged woman who is so repressed against anything to do with sex that she does all that she can to avoid situations with her husband, and she also keeps their daughter Caprice, who is blessed with "more than a handful" locked away in her room.

All this changes when the woman is hit on the head by a freak accident, which turns her into a sex addict.

The situations that result come thick and fast, and director John Waters did a great job here.

The cast also includes Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), Selma Blair (Legally Blonde, Hellboy) and Chris Isaak (That Thing You Do).

A Dirty Shame Quote

Anti 'Bear' Neuter: Look, I'm not a prude. I'm married to an Italian.

Dirty Love (2005)

Dirty Love finds Jenny McCarthy as a photographer in Los Angeles looking for true love after she finds her boyfriend and model in bed with a younger woman.

The plot (also written by Jenny McCarthy) falls flat and despite being joined by Carmen Electra, the whole movie fell pretty flat at the box office too.

Worth watching if you are a fan of either Jenny McCarthy or Carmen Electra, but otherwise probably best avoided.

Dirty Love Quote

Rebecca: How do I look?

Carrie: Like a summer flower that got rained on and stung by a bee.

Dirty Little Trick (2011)

Starring Dean Cain (Smallville), Christie Burson (Spread) and Michael Madsen (24), Dirty Little Trick fails to live up to the expectations of the cast and as a result it pretty much flopped.

In a nutshell, Christie uses one person to play a dirty trick on a second person, while attempting to place the blame on a third person, played by Dean Cain. Realising that he has been set up, Dean Cain plots to get his own back.
